Tessel

Two years of fast growth left a payments company with nine logos and no rules.

Duration

14 weeks

Three brushed blue Tessel metal payment cards floating on a cobalt background, with a triangle logo

Result

9 to 1

logos replaced by one system

Tessel lets makers take payments anywhere. Every team had solved its own brand problem, so the product, the sales deck and the card all looked like different companies.

The brief

Pull nine logos and three colour schemes into one system that engineers could ship without asking a designer.

The system

One triangle, tiled. Each product gets its own pattern from the same grid, and every transition in the app runs on four motion tokens published as code. The card, the checkout and the loading state all use the same move.

What changed

Design requests from product engineers fell by half in the first quarter, and new markets now launch with no bespoke brand work at all.
